Make Your Own Placecard Holders
Things you will need:o Small electrical crocodile clips (These can be found in hardware shops, if you buy insulated just remove outer plastic)
o Wire - this needs to be stiff enough to stand up straight. I got some which resembles brake wire (aging from hardware shops)
o Plaster of Paris
o Plastic flexible ice cube tray
o Spray paint
o Superglue
o Handy Tools - Wire cutters, pliers and drill.
Making the Placecards::
o Make the clips on wire. The crocodile clips have a piece of metal which extends down from the main 'clip'. This has two small pieces of metal either side of it. I simply put the wire against this extended bit of metal and bent (with pliers) the side bits over the wire to hold it in place. I guess this could also be done with a smaller bit of wire or a soldering iron.
o Make your stands. I used a plastic flexible ice cube tray. Simply mix the plaster of Paris (as per instructions on box/packet) and fill the ice cube tray. When this has set - 'pop' the stands out of the tray and leave to dry.
o At this point you can spray your stands with your spray paint with the colour scheme you are using for your wedding.
o Make a small hole (big enough to fit the wire) in the tops of the stands (I had to use a drill bit!!) - and then stand the wire in the holes and superglue in place.
With Many Thanks To Emma Wilson for the above idea. They look really effective and take no time at all to make. Go ahead and give it a go, you can make them personal and unique to fit in with your colour scheme. Add the personal touch to your wedding tables!
