Steel Band - A Modern Choice
Over the last 5 years, with the boom in tourism worldwide and many British couples seeking to tie the knot at exotic resorts such as Sandals in Antigua, Barbados, St Lucia, Jamaica and Tobago, a new trend has emerged. The steel band has become a popular choice for wedding music, as many couples seek to remind themselves of that recent exotic holiday or, the forthcoming tropical honeymoon. The steel band has been over here for over 40 years, but seen mostly as a huge operation with dozens of players at the Notting Hill carnival. Nowadays, smaller steel bands with just 3 players have proved sufficient to embrace the wedding entertainment circuit and provide a quality sound at an affordable cost.
As with any band, the quality is based on the experience and ability of the musicians and Big Sand Steel Band offers a wealth of experienced players, many of whom have performed with legendary stars and toured across all the continents.
In comparison to other forms of wedding music, the steel band has the benefit of being self contained and does not require any PA system or amplification for most functions. The floor space required is minimal and allows the band to set up almost anywhere. Many wedding drinks receptions are outdoor events on a lawn, terrace or just outside a marquee and the inclusion of the steel band on a warm summers day creates a wonderful tropical fantasy.
Big Sand is the name of a beach on a remote tropical Island. Further details and feedback from customers can be found on the website below.
